Option 1 Digital Activism and the Social Politics of the individual in todayââ¬â¢s Postmodern Global Village Activism is normally defined as a practice or vigorous action against a higher power such as a certain leader or government. Activists fight for what they think is right and also fight against the things that the higher power does which they do not agree with, these activists normally for big groups so that they can have a more powerful voice and more people to support their cause. When talking about Digital Activists we relate them to people such as Ai Weiwei who created a trend in people expressing their feelings and views over the internet because it is such a massive and open medium and almost every person in the world can access the internet. Digital Activism is good because it allows people to find out and discover real-life problems that may be hidden by their government or that they do not know of because of things like censorship or lack of specific mediums which are normally used to broadcast news. People can also express their feelings if they are being treated unfairly or being discriminated against or feel like their government is not attending to a certain problem which is effecting their lives and the lives of the people around them as well as the environment in which they live in. ââ¬Å"Digital activism campaigns tend to be more successful when waged against government rather than business authorities.
