Cha Chaan Teng in Hong Kong Essay Example

Cha Chaan Teng in Hong Kong Essay Example Cha Chaan Teng in Hong Kong Paper Cha Chaan Teng in Hong Kong Paper What is your favorite restaurant on campus? For me, Hong Kong Noodle is my favorite restaurant. They have really authentic food and make me feel like home. For example, the minced beef and scramble egg with rice, fried squid, and Wanton Soup are something I always order. However, these are only tip of the iceberg. Known as the Food Paradise, Hong Kong cuisine is almost influenced by all over the world due to the fact that it has a long history of being an international city. Therefore, you can choose from a wide variety of DOD when you visit Hong Kong. Among all kinds of food, I think Chaw Chuan Tent is one of the most popular foods in Hong Kong because it really reflects our culture in different ways. The history of Chaw Chuan Tent explains why high efficiency is one of the main cultures of Hong Kong. In the early Hong Kong, the British opened high- class restaurants in the city that provided western food and they did not welcome Chinese to get in. It is also a luxury expense. Therefore, not a lot of local people know how western food taste like. In the sass, Hong Kong ultra was influenced by British culture and they started to like drinking tea with milk and sugar and eating cakes, but they are only available for British or wealthy people with high social status. In order to challenge such discrimination, local people decided to open their own restaurants serving affordable Western food, which is known as Chaw Chuan Tent. It literally means Tea Cafe or Tea Restaurant. According to Disdains Manacles article in the New York Times, he describes this as a classic, sass-ass style coffee shop diner. Think Howard Johnnys, Horn and Hardhat, or the original Dynes, but with Chinese chefs in the kitchen. Finally, this kind of restaurant slowly developed a culture of fast service and high efficiency in Hong Kong during the post-war industrial boom, because factory workers only had short breaks, and they needed to eat cheap and fast. Customers normally receive their dishes couple minutes after their order, and they only spend 10-minutes to finish a meal and get back to work. Now you might start to wonder what kind of food do they actually serve? The wide variety of food they provide shows the gluttony of Hong Kong people. Chaw Chuan Tent usually consist of three cooking places; a bar, which makes drinks, toasts or sandwiches, a noodle stall which prepares many different types of noodles and dumplings, and a kitchen, which makes rice plates, conge, or other more expensive dishes. Most people do not only get in during breakfast, lunch, or dinnertime, but also between meals. No matter how full they are, they will certainly feel like ordering something to eat or drink in the restaurant. Sometimes people are full and they just want to get a drink, a yanking would definitely be their choice. It is a mixture of 30% black coffee and 70% milk tea. The coffee will wake them up after eating while the tea will help them digest the food better. It might sound awful but it is a perfect match. Sometimes people are only half full but not too hungry, they would choose a Hong Kong Style French Toast as their afternoon tea. It is essentially a deep fried sandwich with a thick layer of peanut butter in between, served with syrup and a brick of butter on top. The fluffiness of the bread combine with the sweetness of syrup and butter makes it a popular teatime snacks in Hong Kong. Finally, if people can eat more food, they should order Wanton Noodle Soup. It is usually served in hot broth with vegetables and wanton dumplings, which contains shrimp. Apart from Wanton, you can also add other toppings, such as sliced beef, meatballs, steak, pork chop, and grill chicken. That will fill you up for the rest of the afternoon. According to CNN News, even Donald Tsars the former Chief Executive of Hong Kong, has declared in an open letter to the public that he loves going into a chaw chuan tent for some beef brisket noodles and milk tea. As you can see, the wide range of choices, from drinks to snacks to rice or noodle dishes always fulfill peoples craving for food. In conclusion, the reason why Chaw Chuan Tent is so popular in Hong Kong is because of its interesting history and the wide range of food they provided, which reflects the important culture of Hong Kong. In 2007, the Legislative Council in Hong Kong passed a proposal to recognize these restaurants as intangible cultural heritage of humanity. If you will ever visit Hong Kong and wonder what you should get, Chaw Chuan Tent would be your first choice.

Critically evaluate the claim that employee involvement and Essay

Critically evaluate the claim that employee involvement and participation initiatives contribute to increased employee motivation and productivity - Essay Example Employee participation gives an impression of value and power to the employees in the organization. Employee participation and involvement in the matters of enterprises provides maximum benefits to the firm as the employees work more honestly in order to maintain their records in the organization. The terms employee involvement and employee participation were first used in 1970s (Farnham, 1993, p.361). After the introduction of these terms a number of companies adopted employee participation programs which were designed with an aim to create better workplace plans and implement such operational programs which would bring benefits for the firm and the workers. This kind of programs, which are known as managed work panels, action commissions or employee-administrator committees, usually offer a forum in which workers may present suggestions or thoughts to administration relating to workplace topics and get administration reply. Many administrators judge that this sort of worker-employer teamwork is extremely advantageous to both parties and valuable for the corporation itself to participate in a worldwide economy. The employment department carried out a survey of employee involvement programs practiced by 377 British organizations and observed that employee involvement raises with the company size and value of financial involvement plans have raised from 53% in 1988 to 77% in 1991(Farnham and Pimlott,1995,p.421). The survey further tells that most of the companies which were surveyed have a program formed which can help the employees to join them. Employers also play a major role in encouraging the employees to work harder. These days the employers consider it as an important duty to converse with the employees and make the relations as better as possible. They are further forming employee committees which would help the employees to come forward with their problems. These committees help in decreasing the gap between the employers and the workers. This further creates an environment of security amongst the employees and would encourage them to work harder. The employers which emphasize on th e employee morale and relations get the benefits accordingly. These benefits can be in the form of high productivity and good quality. Furthermore the employees would not want to keep a distance from the management if all their demands are being met. Here the employers are also taking the advantage as the risk of strikes and employee co-ordination can be avoided. Employee involvement and participation can be divided in to different forms and hence by using these forms we may conclude if employee involvement and participation initiatives contribute to increased employee motivation and productivity or not. The first form of employee involvement is communication which is considered to be one of the most important methods of catching employees' and employers' attention. Some administrators find it worse to use communication with their employees in order to solve problems. However the CBI concluded that communication, itself, is not responsible for the occurrence of any problem but it is the matter of changing views and approaches. Communication should be used to identify the differences and understand the problems rather than criticizing and creating problems. Employees' involvements in the company using communications motivate

Cultural Diversity Thinking About Diversity and Inclusion Essay Example for Free

Cultural Diversity Thinking About Diversity and Inclusion Essay What are the dimensions of cultural diversity? Identify and briefly explain the dimensions by referencing both textbooks. In reading both textbooks and doing further research on the Internet I, believe La Trobe University best summed up the dimensions of cultural diversity. The dimensions of diversity can be divided into two groups, primary dimensions, and secondary dimensions. â€Å"While each dimension adds a layer of complexity to individual identity, it is the dynamic interaction among all the dimensions that in? ences self-image, values, opportunities and expectations† (La Trobe University). Primary dimensions are characteristics unique to an individual. Examples would include age, gender, mental and physical abilities, race, ethnic heritage, and sexual orientation. â€Å"These six differences are termed core dimensions of diversity because they exert an important impact on our early socialization and a powerful, sustained impact on our experiences, values, assumptions and expectations throughout every stage of life. Secondary dimensions are less visible, and many contain a greater element of choice† (La Trobe University). Examples would include geographical location, military and work experience, income, religion, first language, family status, and education. With what ethnic, cultural, or other groups do you identify? Describe what members of your social circle have in common. I am a White female who grew up in a middle-class environment. I have no specific ethnic or cultural group that I identify with because I am of mixed race. As stated in one our readings there are no longer any â€Å"pure races. My father is Lithuanian, while on my mother’s side there is Bohemian, Italian, and German. I consider myself to be American. While growing up I was exposed to many cultures. I had Whites, African Americans, and Asians in my neighborhood as well as in school. My mother taught me to be open to everyone, no matter his or her skin color, even though she contradicted herself when it came to dating someone from another race. On the other hand, my mother’s family was very prejudice. My first husband was Jamaican and my mother did come to terms with her contradictions in her beliefs. Not one family member from my mother’s side of the family attended my wedding but all family members from my husbands’ family attended. I am thankful for the values my mother instilled in me. What is the difference between diversity and inclusion? According to The University of Tennessee Libraries Diversity Committee (2003), â€Å"Diversity can be defined in many different ways. Diversity is a commitment to recognizing and appreciating the variety of characteristics that make individuals unique in an atmosphere that promotes and celebrates individual and collective achievement. Examples of these characteristics are: age; cognitive style; culture; disability (mental, learning, physical); economic background; education; ethnicity; gender identity; geographic background; language(s) spoken; marital/partnered status physical appearance; political affiliation; race; religious beliefs; sexual orientation. † Like diversity, inclusion can be defined in many different ways. Oxford Dictionaries defines inclusion, as the action or state of including or of being included within a group or structure. Inclusion is to have the same choices and opportunities that other people have. Being appreciated and accepted for whom you are. An inclusive environment is one in which every individuals unique perspective contributes to the overall success of the organization (Kottak Kozaitis, 2003). What is the importance of workplace diversity training? If we are to understand the importance of diversity training, we first must define workplace diversity. According to Schaefer (2011), workplace diversity is defined as â€Å"the ways in which people differ that may affect their organizational experience in terms of performance, motivation, communication, and inclusion. Being â€Å"inclusive† means that diverse employees believe that they are vital contributors to the organizational mission, not marginalized, or tolerated. † The importance or advantages of workplace diversity training, affects all areas of business as stated in the following areas. Creativity is increased because different cultures can offer insightful alternatives others may not have considered. Productivity is increased when people of all cultures pull together toward a inspiring goal. New language skills are developed enabling people from other cultures help us understand not just their words but also the meaning behind what they are saying. By connecting to people with different backgrounds, others will gain a greater perspective on how different cultures operate and experience greater success in areas of global business. New processes are created when people with different ideas come together and collaborate. What is your experience with workplace culture? Could there be, or could there have been, more inclusive? I did experience workplace culture while enlisted in the United States Air Force for 10 years. The military employs many people from diverse backgrounds. More than 60 years ago in 1948, Harry S. Truman signed Executive Order 9981 abolishing segregation in the military and ordering full integration of all the services without regard to race, color, religion, or national origin. This order was more symbolic than effective so to level the playing field Equal Pay Act of 1963 and the Civil Rights Act of 1964 were enacted. Still, these acts did not meet the needs of women in the workforce and the Equal Employment Act of 1972 was signed. The percentage of women enlisting in the Air Force has tripled because this act was signed. Even though I never personally experienced discrimination, being a female in the military, sexual harassment is still a very big issue. The military has tried to take the steps necessary to lessen these issues by having mandatory sexual harassment, sensitivity, and cultural diversity training but these problems still exist. All the training in the world will be of no benefit if military does not take a stand and punish those who do not follow the rules instead of brushing it under the table. Please note that, this is my opinion and does not reflect the opinions of other women in the military.

Caffeine and Anxiety Essay -- Does Coffee Cause Anxiety?, 2015

"We want to do a lot of stuff; we're not in great shape. We didn't get a good night's sleep. We're a little depressed. Coffee solves all these problems in one delightful little cup." --Jerry Seinfeld I suffer from anxiety and depression. These are issues that influence my life on a daily basis, so I am quite attuned to them. I started to notice that sometimes, while I was drinking coffee, I would begin to have those tell-tale feelings of anxiety, and it made me wonder if it was the coffee triggering these attacks. After doing a little research, I found that I am not the only one out there who suffers from this specific problem. Coffee has been becoming more and more popular. It is now considered stylish to be walking down the street with a disposable Starbucks or Dunkin cup in our hands. They can be found all over Instagram as proof. Coffee shops are where people go to catch up with friends, study, have meetings, and more. With this new societal norm in mind, researchers have become increasingly concerned with caffeine’s role in panic and other anxiety disorders. Roland Griffiths, PhD, a professor in the departments of psychiatry and neuroscience at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine says, â€Å"People often see coffee, tea, and soft drinks simply as beverages rather than vehicles for a psychoactive drug. But caffeine can exacerbate anxiety and panic disorders.† How, you may ask. Caffeine works by blocking the depressant function of a chemical ca...

Jesus Christ of dance Essay

Doris Humphrey, born October 17, 1895 and died December 29, 1958, legend lives on today. Doris was one of several original modern choreographers. Born in a musical family, her mother taught piano lessons. Doris took dance variety of dance lessons in Chicago. Her birth place was Oak Park, IL. She began her teaching/choreography when her mother opened a dance studio. Doris was 15 years old when she began teaching dance. The dance studio opened to financially support the family. Later, she taught modern dance to community colleges. Juilliard dance program originated with her. Her father was an aspiring photographer and hotel manager. Almost all early modern choreographers studied as Denishawn dancers. The Denishawn California based dance company was founded by Ruth St Dennis and Ted Shawn. From 1918-1928, Doris danced as a principal for Denishawn. Many dancers left Denishawn when Ted Shawn made a controversial remark. One day, outspoken Martha Graham reminded him he was not Jesus Christ. Ted Shawn said he was Jesus Christ. He is the Jesus Christ of dance. Quite a few offended dancers left the company at once. In 1928, Charles Weidman and Humphrey left Denishawn starting their own dance company. The new dance company was name the Weidman-Humphrey dance company. Ted Shawn’s most famous work is Jacobs Pillow. Humphrey had original ideas about dance technique. Modern choreographers are not known to follow tradition. â€Å"Her work embodied the work of Americanist Spirit of individualism† (Debanham, Kathi, Pat, From the Ground Up). Many of her dances emphasized America. In many ways, modern dance rebels against traditional ballet. Almost all modern dancers have years of thorough ballet training. Ballet training comes through in all dancers in performances and class. Doris’s choreography, like all modern dance, is not made to be presentable. Modern dance is not even made to be proper. Modern dance displays non-human strength moves. Viewers really must pay attention to the choreography. Very advanced professional ballet dancers usually perform in short tutus. Advanced modern dancers wear full length skirts. Modern dancer’s technique while performing full length extensions are noticed when the dancers center is straight, and her knee easily touches or goes beyond her ear. Extreme balance, flexibility and strength exhibitions fill professionally choreographed modern dance performances. The only way an untrained dancer understands movements involved is to attempt to copy the choreography. Modern dance movement looks very simple. There are many fakes teaching modern dance today, especially in colleges and universities. This is obvious reading dance magazine articles, written by university professors describing dance technique. Rhythm and breathing was the base of Humphreys choreography. She spent hours exploring how breathing and rhythm works. Her choreography originated with breathing. Breathing exercises progressed to contraction and release. â€Å"All life fluctuates between resistance to and yielding to gravity† (Humphrey, Art of Making Dances). Humphreys greatest contribution to modern dance is fall and recovery technique. Grahams contraction and release technique inspired Humphreys fall and recovery technique. In ballet class, dancers hold constant tension, constant lengthening of the spine and limbs. In Humphey’s dances, the choreography extends with proper ballet technique, (sustained flow) hits a distinct movement destination, (sharp accent). Unexpectingly, the dancers collapse (rest). She related this to birth. The recovery, or release, is when the baby is born. Modern choreographers tend to design original dance techniques from their own interpretation of life’s beginning and ending. Doris Humphrey’s company ended in 1942. She then became the artistic director for Jose Limon. Limon danced in Humphrey’s company. Humphrey Choreographed over eighty dances. Some of these are: Modern-Ballet Color Harmony, 1928; Water Study 1928; The Shakers, 1931; Day on Earth 1947; Water Study is one of her most amazing works. Audiences loved it. â€Å"Dance Magazine described it as ‘a work that astounded critics and audiences alike with its synchronized, moving-wave forms, from calm lapping on a beach to a crashing tempest’ † (Texas State Library Commissions). Other choreographers at this time were Katherine Dunham, Isadora Duncan, Martha Graham, Paul Taylor. Dance is hardly a lucrative profession. Doris lived most of her life through financial hardships. Political events influenced Doris’s financial struggles. â€Å"A worldwide depression began with the October 1929 U. S. stock market crash. International bankruptcies and closing of credit unions closed many jobs. Government public works programs no longer existed. † (Paraphrased, Rise of Totalitarians, 2007). Right before her death, she wrote The Art of Making Dances. Her contributions to the dance world goes farther than fall and recovery technique and her last book. Art of Making Dances is the most significant contribution Humphrey is known for. She died in New York City on *December 29, 1958. *Dates and other facts are not consistent. Apparently, Art of Making Dances were a collection of her notes that was donated to performing arts libraries after her death. “a Fable” by Mark Twain

John Alarcon American Lit. Mr. Mason Research paper â€Å"A Fable† by Mark Twain- Close reading In this short story a painting is the reason for the occurrences described. Animals in this story are portrayed in a human like manner, each having their own ideas and feelings and a common method of communication. The painter’s cat is portrayed as a well-mannered and intelligent being. In the sentence â€Å"The animals out in the woods heard of this through the housecat, who was greatly admired by them because he was so learned†¦Ã¢â‚¬ the cat is made to look astute because the other animals are oblivious to many of the things he tells them. To a human, what the cat says may not sound accurate or right but to a group of animals that’s don’t know any better the cat seems brilliant. The vocabulary used by the cat to describe the painting and the mirror, also indicated that the cat is smart. The adjectives he uses are large and descriptive, the way he speaks and constructs his sentences shows how his level of thinking is superior. The Other animals were not described and interacted with in-depth enough to identify a personality for each of them. They were all made to be similar to one another because they were all in the same situation with the same opinions and ideas toward the painting . The only animal that stood out besides the cat was the ass. This being that he was the only one to have a doubt in the toward the greatly admired cat’s story. The cat aroused the interest and curiosity of the animals. He was the one that informed then of said painting. It was the doubts of the ass that provoked the animals to finally get a look at the painting. The ass was the first to investigate the situation; all the other animals after him got the same result from looking in the mirror. They stood in front of the painting which and all they saw was a reflection of themselves. Being that a different animal looked in the mirror every time, every animal got there own unique reflection of them self’s and were convinced it was the only thing inside the mirror and there was no â€Å"dainty and charming† painting. What the author is trying to explain in this story is that every person has their own meaning and opinion to a story. The painting being a story or work of literature and the mirror being your imagination that gives its own unique reflection and understanding of the text.

Policy, Team, and Information Technology Differences

Policy, Team, and Information Technology Differences Research carried out shows that internet use contributes greatly to the success of an organization. It connects employees hence enhancing the success of an organization, for instance, survey carried on the department of labor showed that use of internet contributed 65% of the annual hires. However, with availability of the internet, majority of the employees alongside with numerous contractors need appropriate controls over the use of the internet to prevent cases of improper use of the internet in the department or an organization.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Policy, Team, and Information Technology Differences specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Internet guidelines The internet use guidelines at the departmental level need to have some similarity with the guidelines used at the organizational level. This is because; departments as well as organizations have one goal in common, success. Therefore, application of or ganizational guidelines in the running of a department will enhance its success, this is because many organizations success is entitled to the following of their set guidelines. Employee’s responsibility However, it is the responsibility of the employees and other staff members within the department to ensure that they have followed the internet guidelines to the latter. This is because; they are the ones who get access to the daily occurrences within the department that dictate for accuracy and validity. In addition to employees and the staff members contributing to the success of the department, their right decisions enhance accuracy of the exchanges that take place within the department. On the other hand, failure of the employees and the staff members in complying with the set guidelines may lead to regrettable disciplinary action. Factors to consider when forecasting the value of a news of information system services include local area network that links a diversity of c omputers in a given area through a networking system to enhance effective communication. Information system is so essential in the current technological world; this is because it enhances competitiveness among employees hence enabling organizations overcome competition. (Laudon, K. C., Laudon, J. P. 2008). Information system also plays a crucial role in uplifting the daily revenue of an organization through the internet researches carried. In addition, the current management of many organizations relay on the information systems in making amicable decisions concerning the running of an organization. Currently advertisements made through the internet also contribute greatly to the success of many organizations. However, the main objectives of information systems in organizations are operational fineness, production of new products and offering of best services, customer and supplier understanding, advanced decision making, having a competitive advantage, and survival of an organizat ion. (McNurlin et al, 2008). Military health care system Military health care is an organization that provides health care to the retired army together with their dependants in the United State. It is made up of five entities namely, TRICARE Management Activity, Medical elements of the army, Health issues, Navy, and the Air force that team to enhance its success. (Glaser Wager, 2009).Advertising Looking for essay on business economics? Let's see if we can help you! Military health care system also provides medical assistance to the military forces during wartimes. For military health care system department to meet its policy of maintaining the health of military officers in good condition, it enrolls its entities into offices that team up to carry out military health functions. Office of defense controlling health issues oversees medical missions recommended for the department of defense. It does this by having interconnection communication within the department. Apart from HA subjecting strategies, processes, and customaries for TRICARE, playing a crucial role in developing MHS schemes to advance the eminence of healthcare crosswise the department of defense, it also carries the role of preparing department of defense healthcare budget. TRICARE Management is an office under m ilitary healthcare system that uses both military health care system and the civilian network in providing services to retired militaries and their relatives. Unlike HA, TRICARE Management certain the implementation of the DoD healthcare strategy have been carried out effectively, constantly, and proficiently across the MHS. In addition, TRICARE Management oversees the success of its programs. On the other hand, both HA and TRICARE Management work together to implement and control healthcare strategies and agendas within the department of defense. The office of medical elements of the services contributes to the success of the MHS by deploying persons, training and equipping them with enough knowledge to take control of the treatment facilities. Just as HA, the medical element office also maintains the medical workforce of the federal civilians through the implementation of the medical treatment facilities in its daily roles. In addition to enrollment and withholding, the medical se rvices endow individuals with education, headship trainings, and other educative programs to prop up MHS needs. (Glaser Wager, 2009). The office of the Air Force just as that of Medical services handles and authorizes medication of the military officers and their relatives in the field of military. They ensure this by not only making tracks on the medication process and services offered to the military officers, but also measuring the competence of the individuals offering the medication. On the other hand, enterprise information system that incorporates internet technology to the world of business to enhance the marketing movement has the role of providing leadership in information technology by supporting the goals of the organization. Apart from inputting much effort towards meeting the demands of customers and suppliers by providing appropriate services, enterprise information system also provides a diversity of information technology services for the departments that make an o rganization. In addition, enterprise information system ensures that information technology concepts fully sustain business processes. (Supplemental Resource American Psychological Association, 2010). However, unlike departmental information system made up of a team of offices within a single corporation, enterprise information system is made up multiple organizations comprising of suppliers, controllers and partners who team to make global organizations look like one entity through having holistic view. Suppliers in enterprise information system have the role of supplying goods and services to a diversity of organizations that make the enterprise. In a military health care, the suppliers carry the role of supplying medicinal and pharmaceutical products to a variety of military organizations to enhance the goal of military health care. On the other side, regulators in an enterprise information system take control of the daily movements of business within the organizations making up an enterprise. Partners play critical roles towards a given enterprise information system. These individuals contribute greatly to an enterprise by not only investing in them, but also participating in advising on the appropriate ways of governance. Enterprise information system being made of multiple organizations, its main goal in a health care organization is to involve a diversity of individuals regardless of military post via use of the networking system. In addition, unlike departmental information system, enterprise information-system services are provided by a variety of partners. Information technology Information technology is the incorporation of computers and software to manage information in a given organization. In organizations and departments, information technology is used to store information, protect information, process the information, transmit information in the right way, and retrieve information in the recommended way. (Luftman, 2004). There are differences b etween departmental information technology and enterprise information technology, for instance, departmental information technology carries all its roles by itself without incorporating other departments and organizations like enterprise information system. The input and output of data in departmental information is also so parochial compared to enterprise information system that is holistic in all its activities. In sum, the departmental information technology is rooted only to one organization making it optimized to only simple tasks. On the other hand, enterprise information technology, unlike departmental information technology deals with several orders of enormity making it more complex than departmental information technology. Enterprise information technology also manages the needs of diversity of users and functions in a systematic way that satisfies all individuals involved. Enterprise information technology coordinates many objectives, business deals and data sources withi n a given time in order to meet its goals. (McKeen Smith, 2009). Despite the many differences between the departmental and enterprise information technology within an organization, some measures if imposed may contribute to the reduction of the gap between the two. For instance, solving of the departmental and enterprise policy issue dictates for the use of department communication networks effectively. Through communications among employees from different departments and organizations, a lot will be gained in terms of innovation and advancement in the rate and magnitude of the services offered by employees. (Schiesser, 2010). In addition, the networking system also aids in interconnecting a variety of brains leading to the advancement of the policies set by a department. Therefore, it is essential for the department employees to link themselves with a diversity of other employees through the use of the departmental networking system and exchange ideas. In addition, employees need to explore what other departments do in order to enhance the success of an organization. (Filipe Cordeiro, 2011). In conclusion, success of many organizations has been linked to the appropriate use of technology. This is due to continuous change of the technological world that dictates for inclusion of technological materials in order to fit in the business competition. In addition, use of information technology has played a crucial role in enhancing amicable management of organizations in simple ways. Employees also gain a lot from the networking system hence enhancing their competitiveness within an organization. However, departmental information technology has to be advanced from relaying on simple activities to a diversity of functions in order to enhance the success of organizations. How to Use Reddit to Unlock Awesome Blog Post Ideas - CoSchedule Blog

How to Use Reddit to Unlock Awesome Blog Post Ideas Blog Do you ever feel like you’re on the edge of breaking through with your content marketing? That you know how to create amazing content for your blog and promote it, but the traffic just isnt quite there. In my experience, the problem typically doesnt lie in your writing skills or knowledge. Instead, its in the ideas that you choose to write about. The best post in the world won’t get any attention if it’s on a topic that your audience doesn’t care about. Look at what Neil Patel, Brian Dean, and other successful content marketers publish.   The content itself is very good, but nothing you couldnt create in most cases. The difference lies in their ability to generate loads of content ideas that their readers love. How to Use Reddit to Unlock Awesome Blog Post Ideas Download Your Free Blog Post Ideas Bundle Start your creative process with awesome ideas from Reddit. Then, turn those ideas into real, high-performing blog posts with these free resources: A Content Marketing Ideas worksheet to help you build a â€Å"swipe file.† A Keyword Research List Template to store your keyword ideas. A Blog Ideas Guide with 150 bonus ideas. A free Content Calendar Spreadsheet template to plan out when you’ll create each idea. A Blog Post Outline Template to easily turn your ideas into awesome blog posts. Chances are that you’ve come up with some great ideas in the past. But there’s one problem that most of us run into ... It’s hard to come up with great ideas on a regular basis. Instead, you probably decide to go with some â€Å"just okay†Ã‚  ideas out of necessity- after all, you want to publish something. The solution to this problem is to find ways to come up with more great ideas on a regular basis; that much is obvious. There are different methods to do that, and I’d like to show you the best one I know of in this post. I’m going to show you exactly how to generate as many blog topic ideas as you need, that your audience will love. Generate as many blog topic ideas as you need, that your audience will loveThe 2 Places That Great Blog Topic Ideas Come From Contrary to popular belief, most great ideas don’t come about from just thinking hard. Instead, they come from observing and interacting with the people you actually write for (or want to write for). I’ll mention it time and time again: your audience is the key to great content ideas. Broadly speaking, we can classify great content into 2 categories. 1. Solutions to Problems that Your Audience Knows Will Help You wouldn’t be reading this post if you didn’t have some trouble coming up with great content ideas. The more trouble someone has with this problem, the more motivated they’re going to be to read this post. That goes for anything. If a piece of content can solve a problem that you know you’re struggling with, you’re going to give a chance. Recommended Reading:  How to Easily Find Awesome Content Marketing Ideas 2. Solutions to Problems that Your Audience Doesn’t Know Will Help It’s a small, but important distinction. If you’re really ingrained into an audience, you’ll be able see some solutions for their problems that they can’t see themselves. This is where real innovation takes place. For example, when travel took too long, people wanted faster horses. Henry Ford came up with the car, which was a way better solution no one had thought of before. Ideas that fall into this category are typically innovative. They bring some new value to your audience, which is great. The downside, however, is that these ideas are much harder to come by (and to execute). Additionally, it’s harder to promote them at first because audiences look for obvious solutions (type #1). They aren’t as motivated (possibly scared) to give something that seems different a try. Key Takeaway: Most content ideas that we’re going to come up with will come from the first category. These ideas are abundant, and easier to execute well. The methods we’re using later on will naturally produce these ideas. Introducing Reddit: The Best Idea Source That Few Marketers Use It’s not a secret place by any stretch- it’s Reddit. Reddit is a solution for many content marketing problems that marketers don’t even consider (yes, that would by category #2 from above). It can be a scary site if you’ve never used it. But once you dig in and learn how it can be useful for content marketing, it will blow your mind. Reddit is the 26th top site in the world as of this moment- it’s huge. It consists of niche-specific communities for about every topic imaginable. Just pure, focused data from actual audiences. It should be a marketer’s dream. The catch? It takes hard work. Be honest with me. How often have you just plugged in a keyword into Google’s Keyword Planner  to get content ideas? It’s quick. It’s easy. Almost every marketer has done it at some point. But you get the exact same ideas that everyone else gets. It’s a lazy solution, and you get the results that you’d expect. Instead, you can invest some time and effort into researching Reddit to get unique ideas. There are 3 ways that you can approach content idea generation on Reddit. I’ll walk you through them all. Recommended Reading: This is the Best 30-Minute Content Marketing Brainstorming Process Approach #1: Find the Right Questions to Ask I’m going to assume that you understand what a subreddit is, and how to find a relevant subreddit  to your niche. If not, this video will get you up to speed: This is a simple approach, but it takes a lot of manual work. You don’t need to do any sorting. Just go to your subreddit and start looking at thread titles for questions (because questions indicate problems).. For example, here’s what r/Entrepreneur  looks like as I write this: Right away, you can see 4 questions: What should I give my founder? (talking about shares of a business) How should you sell a (lifestyle) business that’s generating significant revenue How do you get sponsors for an event? How do you generate passive income? Tip: You only want to pay attention to questions if the thread has a decent score (the number on the left). A higher score indicates that many people in the subreddit have a similar question and are interested in a solution. Now we can generate content ideas based on these questions: The Definitive Guide to Dividing a Business Among Cofounders A Step-By-Step Guide to Selling Your Lifestyle Business A Simple Process to Get Sponsors for Your Next Event (with examples) X Ways Your Can Generate Passive Income: The Complete List If those posts were well written and posted in that same subreddit, they’d get hundreds of views. Skip any problem if you can’t come up with a â€Å"solution† to create. However, remember that solving the toughest problems usually bring the greatest rewards. At this point, just add every question you see to a list (simple text file, spreadsheet, etc.). Additionally, look in the comments of each thread for followup questions. The top level comments will usually be answers to the original question. But the ones that reply to those comments are often questions. For example, from the above thread about passive income: There’s 4 more questions right there: How do you get physical products manufactured? How do you go from prototype to finished product? Should you build your own homepage or hire a developer? (to extend that - how do you hire a developer for business?) What are the most important skills to have in starting a new business When you reach the bottom of the subreddit page, go to the next one...then the next one...and so on until you have a list of hundreds of questions. This might take an hour or two, but batching it all upfront will be most efficient. Next, come up with different solutions (topic ideas) for each problem. If you can come up with a few different angles, that’s great. If you feel that some solutions are too basic or not worth creating content about, just skip them. After all, you should have hundreds more. Approach #2: Find the Keywords (If You Know Your Audience Well) This is an approach that works well if you’re also trying to drive search traffic. With the first approach, you may or may not have a good keyword to target in your content, but here you will for sure. There are 3 main steps to do this. Go Through Threads and Write Down Potential Keywords Start by heading back to your relevant subreddit(s). While you can leave the threads in the default order, I recommend sorting by â€Å"top†, and then â€Å"of all time†: Now, go through each thread and write down phrases that could be good keywords to target. This includes both the title and comments in each thread. Don’t worry if the keyword might not be great, we’ll filter out the bad ones later. Here’s an example of the current top post on r/Entrepreneur of all time: There 3 obvious long tail phrases in the opening post that might be worth targeting: â€Å"SEO tutorial for beginners† â€Å"Making money from an affiliate site† â€Å"How to get authority sites ranking† Don’t expect to find hundreds per thread, but you can usually find 5-10 (sometimes some duplicates). From one of the comments, I quickly found another one that appears promising: Again, you want to build up a massive pile of these keywords in a text list or spreadsheet before moving on. If you need a target number, look to get at least 200 or so to start. Recommended Reading: How to Improve Your Keyword Research With Latent Semantic Indexing Run Your Keyword Ideas Through a Keyword Tool A lot of those keywords that we just found will have very little, or no actual search volume. Now that doesn’t mean that you couldn’t target them. You could still rank for similar variations that do in fact have some search volume. However, we want to be sure so that you don’t waste your time. This step involves running those keywords through a keyword tool. You can use any tool you’d like. For the examples below, I’ve used Term Explorer. You can do 1 of 2 things: See if the exact phrase match for each keyword has a search volume Get related keyword suggestions based on each keyword (recommended) The second option ensures you'll find any close variants that have actual search volumes. I ran those 4 quick keywords that I found, and it turns out that only one of those has any exact search volume in the U.S.: You’ll find that happens a lot, which is why I recommend starting with a big list. However, most keyword tools will also produce close variants that do actually have search volumes. For example, Term Explorer also found: search engine optimization tutorial - 500 searches per month seo for beginners - 500 searches per month how to make money with affiliate marketing - 500 searches per month hire seo expert - 500 searches per month Keep in mind the relatively recent Google Keyword Planner update  that doesn’t give exact volumes (i.e. 100-1000). It looks like Term Explorer is just taking an average value. These aren’t amazing keywords, but they’re not bad. If you have a large starting of keywords, you will find at least a few excellent keywords to target directly. Keep in mind that all this is different than just plugging in a few broad niche keywords into a keyword tool. You won’t stumble upon most of these keywords using that lazy method. This lets you avoid a lot of the competition who all go after the same, easy-to-find keywords. Base Content Off of Those Keywords Eventually you’ve found keywords mentioned on Reddit and search engines. These keywords allow you to naturally get traffic through multiple channels. Keywords are even easier to turn into content ideas that having to think of a solution to a problem. From above, you might think of: A Step-by-Step Search Engine Optimization Tutorial SEO Simplified: SEO for Beginners That Produces Quick Results The Comprehensive Guide on How to Make Money With Affiliate Marketing Want to Hire an SEO Expert?  Here’s How to Not Get Burned For the most part, keywords lend themselves to straightforward titles. Here's how to turn keywords from Reddit into awesome content ideas:Optional:  Automate This Process Using the Reddit Keyword Research Tool As a developer, I had a huge problem with this approach. I liked the results, but it took several hours (not exaggerating) per month to just research the keywords. So eventually, I built an automated solution that you can also use if you’d like. The tool scrapes threads and comments in a subreddit, pulls out keywords, and checks search volume. All you need to do is find your subreddit, and then plug it into Keyworddit: I ran it with the default settings, except setting â€Å"relevance† to â€Å"high†. It produced a list of 155 keywords scraped from the subreddit that actually have search volume. Automate keyword research with this free #reddit keyword tool built by @DaleCudmore:Out of these, there are still some junk keywords. But, there are also several that I wouldn't have found before. Then, just create content ideas like we did above. I’d encourage you to plug in the best of these keywords into another keyword tool to get even more ideas. Recommended Reading: How to Write a Blog Post: Your 5-Point Checklist to Write a Perfect Post This is the Ultimate Blog Writing Process to Create Killer Posts This is the Best Way to Write Catchy Blog Titles Approach #3: Find What Works and Make It Better For the sake of completeness, I’m including this approach. This will be brief, however, because it’s nothing new. Essentially, it’s the Skyscraper Technique  approach. The basic idea is to: Find popular content Make similar content, but make it way better Step 1: Find popular content. Step 2: Make similar content, but make it way better. It definitely works. If an audience liked the original content, of course they will like a much improved version. To do this, again sort your subreddit by â€Å"top†. You can choose between â€Å"All time† and â€Å"Past year† depending on how fast your niche changes over time. You won’t be able to improve every thread. Sometimes you don’t have the knowledge or experience to do so. From above, I’ve identified 2 opportunities for improvement. Original: 37 Tactics I used to grow my company to $50k/month in sales without spending a penny on marketing. Improvement: 85 Tactics you can use to grow your business’ sales without spending a penny on marketing (with proof they work!). Original: How startups such as Dropbox, Airbnb, Groupon and others acquired their first users. Improvement: I studied how Dropbox, Airbnb, and 50 Other Top Startups Got Their First Users: Here Is How They Did It. You have some flexibility in how you improve upon it: Make it longer (more in-depth) Make it â€Å"better† (better writing, graphics, maybe offer video/images) As long as you’ve maintained the core idea, it’s going to do well. Whenever I’ve done this, it’s always surpassed the score of the original thread. Editor's Tip: Store Your Ideas in Once you've generated some awesome blog ideas using Reddit, you'll need somewhere to keep track of them. There are two easy ways to do this in :1. Drop your ideas directly onto your content calendar: 2. Use the Unscheduled Drafts folder to save them for later: Start Generating Better Blog Ideas With Reddit Reddit isn’t the only place to get content ideas, but it’s a great  one to have in your repertoire. There’s a never-ending supply of content ideas for almost every niche. I encourage you to use all 3 approaches so that you can have a huge number of blog topic ideas to work with. One last thing to keep in mind is that not all ideas you get from these approaches will be great. It’s up to you to have high standards of what you actually move forward with and produce.

HSTORY AND THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

HSTORY AND THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION - Essay Example As a consequence they were in desperate need to pay their debts, for which they levied a variety of taxes. The so-called Navigation Acts were perhaps the first decision of the British Parliament to be received coldly by the American Colonials. These acts, technically several of them, dated back to the 1650’s and sought to mandate that all traded goods coming from the European continent and headed for the American Colonies must first pass through Great Britain so as to ensure that British merchants would benefit from the trade. They had for decades been ignored by the Americans who, in violation of these acts, simply traded as they wished (Beard 1944, p. 91). With the ruinous debt Britain faced after 1763, the Crown sought to pay that debt by taxing the colonies. If the acts had been applied uniformly to all subjects of the British Empire, then perhaps the Americans would not have been bothered by them. The opposite was the case. â€Å"The ‘main material part’ of the Navigation Acts [was] acceptable†¦Americans were not opposed to regulations of their general commerce by Parliament, ‘providing such regulations were bona fide for the benefit of the whole Empire, not for the small advantage of one part to the great injury of another’† (Doren 1938, p. 490). That was the background. The Molasses Act of 1733 had sought to tax molasses made in the French West Indies to the benefit of the more expensive British-made variety. The Americans, many of whom themselves shipped in the illegal molasses, openly refused to obey the 1733 legislation. In 1764 Parliament passed the Sugar Act, which â€Å"reflected a shrewd effort by the ministry to balance American and British interests† (Henretta 2000, p. 149). The speaker of the Massachusetts House of Representatives argued that the duties on sugar constituted a tax, so that the Sugar Act was ‘contrary to a fundamental Principall of our Constitution: That all Taxes ought
